Alright, lucky number 7.
Just got in batch 7 as well! Any idea what’s the ETA for our batch?
only Q3 so I will say aug-sep time .
I also got one as well. My first FW even. I planned to get one like 1-2 years ago, but I kept hesitating since even FW13 was quite expensive… But now FW12 is a lot more affordable, plus it can double as a tablet as well.
It is a shame that it does not include a stylus, but I hope that the stylus becomes available for purchase soon.
Same for me! Will be my first framework as well and I also wanted something that doubled as a tablet/with touch screen! The others were out of my budget so I’m glad they released something like this!
Same on the stylus, hopefully we can order the stylus before it ships!
They did release a bit of infos on the stylus. I wounder if other stylus like apple pencil will work as well.
This one from Penoval will probably work the best, it has USI 2.0 like the FW12’s stylus:
Lucky number 7, baby!
I have been watching Framework for years. They finally won me over with a convertible, 12", maintainable device, that’s designed with a pen in mind. That’s a dream form factor for me.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I probably will in August or so.
Well… At least I’ll get it before the new school year!
I was at batch 1, but at the moment, I preordered i5. While waiting for my order and thinking about my daily use of laptops, i3 processor would be suitable and good enough for the purposes. So I changed the specification and now I’m pushed to this lucky numbered batch it’s great to join here
Welcome, welcome! … I think!
I’d be very surprised if it came even close to the apple pencil.
We’ve seen examples of line wobble in a few pictures already so it’ll be a rather poor stylus when compared to the competition.
It seems like framework sees the stylus as a bonus feature, otherwise they would talk about it more and they probably would have worked to release it with the laptop at the same time.
However, that doesn’t mean it won’t be totally usable.
Edit: Misread the question lol. The display only supports MPP and USI Stylus tech so it won’t work with the Apple pencil unfortunately :\
If you want a stylus that produces high quality lines close to the apple pencil your options will most likely be the Microsoft Slim pen 1/2 followed by Penvoal, and the Lenovo Precision Pen 2.
Yeah I’m not gonna wait around for the FW stylus either, I just have a Penoval one ready for when my laptop arrives
I’m gonna go for the precision pen because I can’t live without a right click and E button on my pen but I’m very curious about how well Penoval will work on the 12.
I’ll have to check with you on that when batch 1 ships haha.
To be honest, I was worried about reservations. I had planned to use the computer for one of my projects that was going to start right away (probably in a month or so).
But if it’s August-September, it’s a little…
I believe Nirav confirmed that the image wasn’t made using a Framework 12 stylus but using something else.
Nirav was referring to this graphic When he said it was drawn with a different drawing pad:
The image I posted seems to very clearly depict a framework stylus and 12 working together.
I still don’t expect much from the fw stylus but I’m sure it’ll be usable for note taking and light drawing.
Very wobbly. ^^^
Batch 1 seems to have been charged. Maybe end of july begining of august we get ours xD i bought one for work so my 16 can stay at home and be my home entertainment. But also i just like fw and want to support fw as much as i can. User serviceable products should be the standard. If they make a phone ill probably buy it aswell.
Did you have a look at fairphone already?
