… Bubblegum.
Got my FW 12 all up and running with Ubuntu. Working like a dream so far. Precision Pen 2 working well also.
There still seems to be one issue on 25.04 after the auto-rotate fix has been applied. If you open the lid completely keyboard + touchpad are correctly deactivated for tablet mode. If you go back to laptop mode keyboard + touchpad don’t re-activate. Working workaround is to close the lid to suspend. You can immediately wake it again and bring it back from suspend - then keyboard + touchpad are working again.
At least that’s what I found on Ubuntu 25.04 and another user on Arch. Hope there is a fix some day. Sharing it just in case you run into the same issue with the workaround to get it back without having to hard shutdown.
I just tried this out myself and the issue isn’t present for me, keyboard + trackpad deactivate and re-activate correctly.
Oh wow. That’s awesome. Ubuntu 25.04 as well with the auto-rotate fix applied?
Yes and yes.
Did you have to do anything special for the precision pro 2? I am setting up my FW12 this weekend and also got a precision pen 2.
Looking forward to writing on the screen in tablet mode in Linux.
No it just worked. The two buttons on the pen don’t work correctly in all applications, but writing works fine.
Is there a certain app to bind the buttons for the pen? I just need them to work or do something when I’m in a writing app.
I don’t plan to use the pen for anything else so don’t care if the buttons don’t work outside of writing apps
I am not aware of any for Linux. It should be possible but it’s not something I’m familiar with. From what I know the device needs to be registered as a wacom device which it isn’t currently
Tracking this here: FW12 - Problems returning from Tablet Mode - Tracking thread, as it’s now been reported in multiple threads, and a single thread for the issue is likely to be more productive
The colours are shipping
Finally LETS GO!!!
Hear me out. Based on this poll, 3/4 of the FW12 orders are colourful, and for black/grey the “We’re preparing Batch 1” emails went out a day after “We’re preparing Batch 0” emails; maybe we’ll get our email Thursday or Friday?
Or selection bias? Maybe he black/gray crowd are dead-eyed corpos and wouldn’t bother with a poll.
IDK, maybe.
ordereed April 9th, sage, got the email 20 minutes ago, whoohoo!
says 4-21 days to ship from now on.
