FW13 display turns off and goes to sleep after bumping laptop

My Framework 13 works great when it is on a desk and not being moved, but sometimes if I bump it, or move it on the desk, or have it on my lap, the display will go black and the power button light will turn off. If I wait for a little bit and hit the power button it will wake back up on the lock screen.

I suspect the issue is a loose cable, could anyone please help me diagnose and fix this issue?

Context

  • OS: Debian Bookworm
  • Hardware: Framework laptop 13 (AMD 7040)

I have also fixed a couple of issues with Debian 12/AMD 7040 compatibility by adding the boot options I’ve seen on other threads here (amdgpu.dcdebugmask and amdgpu.sg_display).

it looks like issue with lid close sensor. are you sure that it is caused by some pressure or move and not by some item with magnet. Have you checked logs what is the reason of triggering sleep?
see following thread for more details PSA: Magnets and the Lid Sensor
