I connected my 2024 13" iPad Air to my Framework 16 for the first time today. I’m running the latest LTSC release of Windows 11 (sorry), the latest iOS, and the latest version of iTunes. The connection is being made with the included Apple USB-C to USB-C cable.
When I connect the iPad to any of the 4 back ports on the Framework (ports 1, 2, 4, and 5), the “Do you trust this device?” dialog flashes on the iPad then immediately disappears in a loop. The charge status of the iPad follows the same loop. However, when I connect it to one of the 900 mA ports (3 and 6), it works just fine.
This isn’t a huge deal or anything, I’m just wondering if anybody else has similar experiences? It would be cool to get more current into the iPad to possibly charge it quicker.
This is an Apple issue across many devices. If people actually saw the debug chatter that goes on when they plug many Apple devices into a USB port they would be astounded by the number of messages that come across. While it looks shiny and silent on the outside there is a flood of messages in the background everytime something is plugged in.
I am not saying it is 100% Apple’s fault; though you do not see the same issues with other vendor devices to the same extent unless it is no-name stuff from a foreign country being passed off as legit.
