Just got my framework laptop, and I genuinely love it. Only issue I’ve found is the HDMI slot, which refuses to properly display to an ultrawide monitor. The monitor is a 29" 21:9 by LG. It recognizes the monitor, but never shows the correct resolution, is very fuzzy, and distorted.
The DisplayPort slot has zero issues connecting to it, so it’s just the HDMI slot.
Have you tried any other cables? I have had trouble with ultrawide monitors over HDMI on my Macbooks as well. They can be troublesome. On my Macbook I had to get a HDMI to Type C cable to support my ultrawide.
Same issue here with an LG 16:9 monitor ( LG 27UL500-W Black / Silver 27" 5ms (GTG) Widescreen sRGB 98% 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 HDR Monitor w/ Radeon FreeSync - Newegg.ca ). Cord that came with the monitor works on another computer but no longer on the HDMI port of the frame.work laptop. Not working with frame.work laptop in either Windows 11 or Ubuntu 21.10. Tried a second cable – same problem.
Finally did get it working by plugging in a USB-C dongle that has an HDMI port.
I’m wondering if it is the HDMI module on the frame.work laptop itself that is faulty.
I might be mistaken, but I believe it can be fixed with a driver tweak. My running theory is the issue stems from the resolution of the monitor, and it’s having trouble scaling to 21:9 through the HDMI logic.
Does anyone have a fix for this? I am trying to use my framework laptop with my Odyssey G9 with a resolution of 5120x1440. I’ve tried the HDMI module and the USB c port with a dongle. I don’t have the display port module.
I’m on the latest drivers for Windows 10. There is no image on the monitor and the display on the laptop glitches out. Any thoughts?
