High CPU temps when in sleepmode

I am using Windows 11, with a 2022 Laptop 13 with Intel 12th gen. I have been noticing for the past few months, and more regularly in the past few weeks, that my fans and CPU temps are high while the laptop in sleep mode with the lid closed. Then when I open the laptop and wake it up the temps and fans lower down. I have also noticed that when I use a CPU temp and other temp tracking software the temps and fans will start to lower to. Does anyone have any, troubleshooting techniques, or ideas of what might be going on with my laptop? I’m wondering if I need a fresh windows install or something.

If the fans and CPU temps are high while in sleep mode, it is not actually getting to sleep mode.
There has been one thread on here about a similar problem, in that the input (keyboard, trackpad) developed a fault, and would wake the device up without one wishing it to.
It might be that fault, in which case a replacement input panel is needed.
Otherwise, it is worth seeing if it is caused by anything else.
Try selecting suspend, without closing the lid, and see if the fans and temps cool down them.
That will then narrow it down to a problem with lid closed only.
It is also worth upgrading to the latest BIOS, because it has fixed a few sleep / wakeup bugs.
Also, look to see if you can disable wake events. I.e. disable keyboard, lid and touchpad from causing a wakeup.
I do that, and then the only thing that wakes it up is pressing the power button quickly.
It is also useful, because I can open the lid, and still look at the fade in/out power LED still fading in / out even after I open the lid, so I know it is still in sleep mode.

Modern standby, it’s a Windows 11 issue. Instead of switching the power of the CPU off (S3), the computer just pretends to be asleep (S0ix). To make things worse, windows 11 is very bloated and loves to run the background tasks at max power when the computer is supposed to sleep or the user is away from keyboard. This leads to power consumption to be much higher is “sleep” than user doing light tasks such as text editing. Not eco-friendly.

The solution is install Linux or debloat Windows

I’ll give this a some of these a try and let you know how it goes.
Could you also link me to the other post?

The other thread about wakeup issues, that was eventually solved by placing the input cover.

If the computer fails to enter sleep, the power draw should be the same as using “do nothing” option upon lid close. If the computer consumes more power and generates more heat during sleep and it cools down after opening the laptop, it’s a modern standby issue. After updating the Bios and Windows 11. The temperatures have stabilized. Someone in the thread mentioned debloating windows. Anyone have tips on how and what to do for that? I have spent a little trying to remove all copilot functions, and would love to know more ways to remove unnecessary and unwanted bloatware.

There are many tools such as this one The Ultimate Windows Utility | Chris Titus Tech | Tech Content Creator, make sure to read the scripts before debloating, or you can find the cause and debloat manually Completely disable compattelrunner.exe
