Howto get a keyboard RGB for the Framework 16

Hello everybody,

I’m about to buy my first FrameWork laptop, most likely it will be the 16.

I saw that my native keyboard (Belgian) doesn’t have a RGB version.
What is the best (least expensive) way of ‘creating’ one?
Should I buy the RGB Clear ANSI keyboard and get the keycaps for my language somewhere else? If so, any suggestions or more tips of what I should be then are very much appreciated.

Or should I get and the Belgian one and the RGB Clear ANSI keyboard together and switch the keycaps from one to the other?

As you can tell, I’m not familiar with this kind of stuff.

A very big thank you for everyone who leaves a good tip or piece of information here.

I doubt you can switch the key caps between keyboards without breaking them, if they even fit.

I think your only option for an RGB is to buy the blank one and label them yourself.

Keep in mind though, those places like keyshorts are cheap and just print the labels on top of the stickers, which means they only last a short time before they wear off. I had keyshorts on mine and the wasd keys I was using for fps wore off in literally a week of gaming.

Shame Framework doesn’t sell Blank RGB keyboard. I understand that you won’t see any RGB by default, but then there are places which laser engrave the keyboard, and with a blank one you can theoretically engrave any SVG onto the keyboard making it fully custom.

You can see the result of such a laser engraving in this post.

If you can transform RGB US English layout into Belgian with laser engraving - then that’s it.

Not sure how present such services are in Europe, but I found one in Germany pretty quickly.
