I’m planning to get a DIY 13th gen Intel i5-1340P. Framework by default only offers ddr5 ram for intel, but Intel says 13th gen CPUs support DDR5 as well as DDR4. Will I be able to upgrade the ram to DDR5 ones later down the line?
DDR5 is physically different from DDR4. Unless framework releases a 13th gen board with DDR5 SODIMM slots then the answer is no you would not be able to upgrade to DDR5 from DDR4 in the future
As Nathan said DDR5 is different from DDR4, and the 13th motherboards is only DDR4 compatible. So no you’ll have no way to upgrade from DDR4 to DDR5 later
