there are a few cables on/between keyboard, touchpad, midplate, and mainboard. send pic of cable, so we can answer your question. regards..

Turns out my cable wasn’t broken.

I learned that day that the midplate cable you remove when removing the midplate is not hotpluggable.

Also, it is replaceable.
