Issue with externals and power consumption

Hello everyone
Since a couple of days ago I have some problems with my Framework 12 (running Win 11) that I can’t figure out on my own.
First of all, the laptop does not seem to go to sleep anymore (the battery drained 10-13% per hour with closed lid and nothing connected). I tried to test this behavior again yesterday and the fans ramped up after a couple of minutes.
This is my powercfg/a:

The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected
Hibernate
Fast Startup

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

Standby (S3)
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

Hybrid Sleep
    Standby (S3) is not available.
The hypervisor does not support this standby state.

The second issue I have is that I am not able to connect any peripherals or storage devices to my laptop. I tried both USB A and C ports to connect anything and the devices won’t show up. Only charging seems to work.
If I try to power off laptop, the fan ramps up and the display goes black. I have to hard power it down in order to be able to boot it up again.

I have not seen any behavior like this in the past and do not know what could have caused it.

Thanks for trying to help

Heya! Could you try running a powercfg /sleepstudy and see what Windows diagnoses as the largest cause of sleep drain (and if its sleeping at all)?

Hey,
I don’t think that Windows is able to tell me. There are some sleep phases, but most of the drain seems to happen in shutdown… or is simply not documented.

Do you have any other idea how I might be able to find out?

Have you installed the framework driver bundle for your model?

Do you have 3rd party AV, security suite, etc. software installed? If so, can you try to uninstall it and see if this helps resolve the issue.

For the sleep states, W11 supports S0 - Modern standby. Google it to read up. You can also enable Hibernate - S4- if you want to hibernate through the power menu.

For the mass storage devices not showing up in Explorer, have you checked Disk Management in W11 to make sure those storage devices are “online”. If they’re listed as “offline”, right click on them and select online. Once online the devices should show in Explorer. If not, in Disk Management assign a drive letter.

It may also be a good idea to run some repair tools on your W11 installation. See here and I suggest running both System File Checker and DISM.

Hello everyone,
thanks for contributing. I contacted costumer support and after some diagnosis they decided to send me a new mainboard.
Thanks for the help!
