Keyboard (and sometimes Display) regularly freezes

Hey all,

This is on Windows 11. I’ve checked a few other topics but they don’t match my own exactly.

I have the new Framework 16, Win 11, AMD AI 7 300

Even in typing this, my keyboard will just drop inputs–e.g., not accept “,” or spaces or any key for .25 - 1.5 seconds.

Sometimes a key will stick and input 10 “e”s.

I’ve updates Framework and AMD drivers, but am probably missing something more obvious. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m happy to try them out.

As far as I am aware, the keyboard (and Num Pad) are fixed correctly, as is SSD.

Thanks,

Edit:

One thing I do notice on my device manager:

The keyboard is listed as an HID; sometimes there is one instance, sometimes 3, sometimes 5.

In every case, when typing, when the hardware manager rescans, this is when the freeze happens the most.

Could it be the num-pad confusing the driver? I will try the Gen 1 numpad driver and see if it persists, the numpad lights blinking also seems to be connected.

Not sure if this helps or not but worth trying because it is so easy to do. Grab a can of compressed air and with the thin straw that it comes with give it a good dusting around the edges of the keys. Again, it may not be your issue but worth a quick try. Also try to remove the keyboard and re-seat it again if you have not already done so. If your keyboard is 1st Gen there is a firmware update for it and the num pad you can try to apply that if you have not already done so. Thanks!

Both num pad and keyboard are 2nd Gen, but I’ll check website again.

I checked underneath to make sure SSD was properly attached–everything was.

I will check or redownload firmware again.

Thanks,
