Keyboard shuts down after having some working time

In the second week of having the Framework Laptop 16, the keyboard shuts down while the laptop is on. It does it after having it working for several hours, let’s say at least 5-6.
A small icon appears at the top right corner on my screen and looks like a cable in gray color, the keyboard flashes without allowing any input. The effect remains for 10-20 seconds after which it works again for 5-6 seconds.
I’m using Ubuntu 22.04 on the following configuration: Framework | Configure Framework Laptop 16 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ 7040

I wonder if this could be a thermal issue with the keyboard controller, causing it to crash. Are you making heavy use of the dGPU at the time?

It’s also possible that a reload of the keyboard’s firmware could fix up any crash conditions.

Is the touchpad also being affected the same time the keyboard disconnects?

Also perhaps remove the input modules and re-seat the main connector (#1) on the midplane in case thermal stress is warping an infirm seating.

If none of that helps, Framework support was super helpful in getting my once-defective keyboard replaced (I had a couple of defective RGB LEDs). They were able to advance-exchange they keyboard directly under warranty after having me run a few tests to confirm the issue. Reach out to them via the main site.

No, it’s definitely not related to GPU operations. I mostly use an IDE (PyCharm) and Chrome on a daily bases.
Yes, the touchpad is also affected at the same time.

As it’s affecting both keyboard and touchpad, I’d try re-seating both ends of the ribbon cable that connects the mid plate.
