Laptop screen not turning on

Which Linux distro are you using? Fedora 42 or 43 i dont recall

Which kernel are you using? linux 6.17

Which BIOS version are you using? can’t know as it does not turn on

Which Framework Laptop 12 model are you using? (13th Gen Intel® Core™) i5

I have had a framework 12 since around the beginning of November last year and never had an issue. But just now, like 2 days ago when I went to boot it in the morning after I had used it last night something crashed. The first time the framework logo appeared but there appeared to be some glitches on screen; the power button was on though and it wouldn’t boot up so i forced its power off by pressing the button. Since then when I try to power it on the Caps lock key lights up as well as the power button and when i try to charge it the charging light also shines orange/white. It also showed some red green and blue(?) lights but when I found the guide for their meanings I could not reproduce it again. What is the course of action? I think it might be the RAM but I am scared to touch anything still. Thanks a lot!!!

Hi!! Many thanks!! I have already reached out to support but i though maybe other people could also give me some insight! I have a question though… I dont get what “post codes” are in this context…I’ll check out the display too! I initially thought it couldn’t be that because of the caps lock also being on for some reason but i’ll see :slight_smile: I don’t have that much experience with hardware..

Post codes mean “Power On Self Test” codes. Those are displayed through a series of blinks of the LEDs pointing at what the issue could be. I would try just reseating the RAM while checking the display cable.
