Laptop will not turn on

My laptop will no longer turn on. For a little while it would not turn on unless I plugged it in so I thought it might be a battery problem but it was not. The battery charge was fine. Now it won’t turn on regardless.

It is not a Windows boot up problem. The On/Off button does not light up when pressed and there is no response what so ever.

Have you tried following this guide?

Thanks. I performed this procedure, and it fixed the problem.

Just so you know…it’s going to be a recurring issue if the usage / charging pattern remains the same.

Lengthy read:

Summary:

Just ran into this again at the start of a 14 hour flight. I was using my laptop just two hours before the flight. I do not have my screwdriver on me, so the hard reset is not a viable option

It’s insane to me that a $1500 laptop has required me to plug it in every time I’m going to use it, and manually reset the clock so that any website works, for 2.5 years now

What’s even more insane is that the response we receive is that this is expected

I could understand it if I wasn’t using the laptop for a month maybe. But it’s slowly gotten worse and worse to the point where it’s after 20 minutes or so that it needs plugged in, and now plugging it in isn’t functioning?

This should be a mass RMA with Framework doing everything in their power to fix this

What revision of the machine do you have? The 11th gen Intel boards have a known issue with the RTC battery running down over time, and needing to be replaced with a new one which Framework will send you, or with a module that replaces the battery but requires some delicate soldering. If you replace the RTC battery, make sure that you use a rechargeable one from Framework, and carefully follow the procedure to replace it, as the holder is very fragile. Best of luck getting things resolved, and have a great day.
