Memory compatibility FW 13 AMD Ryzen™ 7040U series DDR5-SODIMM-5600MT/s

@pyguydev @Brod8362 I found this ram is this non xmp and good? https://eazyro.com/adata-ad5s560016g-s-memory-module-16-gb-1-x-16-gb-ddr5-5600-mhz-ecc/ I found this also: Welk DRAM/geheugen wordt ondersteund door Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series)? and for storage I was thinking about

I’m not really sure 100%, I’m not an expert.

What I will say is, I ordered https://www.newegg.com/crucial-16gb-262-pin-ddr5-so-dimm/p/N82E16820156314?Item=9SIA12KJJT7353 . I’m in batch 3 and don’t have my machine yet, so I don’t even know for sure that this kit will run at 5600 (though I think other people have reported it works, so I should be okay)

Once I get mine and test it, I can come back and let you know if it worked.

Also, if your goal is get two sticks, it would probably be cheaper to get a 2x16GB kit instead of buying two 16GB sticks separately.

Not sure if you are wanting 16 or 32 GB of RAM from the way the website is listing it…just double check you are getting what you want. I’m assuming its 32 by the pricing. It looks like it should work. I’m not too familiar with the Adata brand.

Adding to the thread here. I am using 2x Crucial CT32G56C46S5.M16B2 32GB modules in my Ryzen 7 FW13. Took maybe 15-20 seconds to do memory training.

Hey!
Just looking at tracking down some components for a DIY build of the AMD version of the FW13 and am currently looking at the RAM.

Anyone have any experience or know of any reason why I should not use this:
Crucial 64GB Kit DDR5-5600 CL46 (CT2K32G56C46S5)

Thanks in advance.

The crucial 5600 ram seems to work based on various reports like these, however I couldn’t find and direct mention of the 2x32GB version. The 2x16 seems to work fine, though, so I don’t expect a problem. However older Linux systems have problems with more than 32 GB of RAM as you can find in Frameworks documentation.

Avoid the 5200 MHz version, it doesn’t seem to work.

The only reason would be that it hasn’t been officially tested by Framework, so if you have problems with the Laptop, support might possibly say that your configuration is unsupported and that you should test one of the approved RAM modules.

From the compatibility page, keep in mind that:

Linux support for 64GB (Inclusive) and higher RAM capacities may cause white/blank screen issues with displays on some distributions with kernels below 6.5. Ubuntu OEM kernel oem-6.1-1021 and later has a backported workaround. For other distributions, please verify you are using 6.5 or utilize the following patch if you experience this issue:

I’m also planning to buy this kit, here in europe (Austria) its a lot cheaper than alternatives. And there aren’t that many alternatives.
I’m Batch 4, so when my laptop arrives I can tell you if it works fine

But it shouldn’t be a problem to just use a Kernel newer than 6.5 right?

I should mention I will be on windows

I am batch 8 so I guess that means I am in for quite a wait…

I have ordered two sticks of CT32G56C46S5, which is the same as the full kit CT2K32G56C46S5 you’re interested in. I am batch 2 so in a week or two I should be able to confirm that it works.

I don’t think so. Also, I’m interpreting “kernels below 6.5” as “6.5 AND newer is fine”.

Then I can’t think of a reason why you would have issues (except defective RAM)

Yep, it’s working on my machine. I’ll run memtest tomorrow to make sure I have no problems, but the 64GB are recognized correctly at 5600MHz!

Update: while the system boots and seems to work, my memtest is failing. I need to investigate if it’s just a case of a defective stick or if there is more to it.

EDIT: it seems like it is indeed a bad stick, as the one stick also fails by itself while the other works fine.

So do you think its save to buy 2x the Crucial 32Gb 5600 Ram (CT32G56C46S5)?
I’m still a little unsure^^

@LukasHeiligenbrunner This works fine in my Ryzen 7 Framework 13, I have two of them and they report 5600MT/s without issue.

Thanks a lot, this helps!

No idea, but in the UK it seems that the G.Skill kit is much cheaper than the others, so that’s why it’s the one I’m choosing.

Regarding the timings, I actually don’t know.

This ram should work right? https://www.amazon.nl/Crucial-5600MHz-5200MHz-Geheugen-CT16G56C46S5/dp/B0BLTGMCB7?th=1 I am thinking about this storage: Megekko.nl - WD Black SN850X 2TB M.2 SSD
