I just got my framework DIY edition delivered today. I installed the RAM and SSD and checked the touchpad cable, plugged in my expansion cards(2 USB-C, 2 USB-A). After plugging in the charger I tried to start the laptop without success.
I already tried multiply thinks like:
- skipping the expansion card and plugging directly into the port
- trying another port
- letting it “charge” for a while before trying again
- checking the battery connector(seemed fine)
Nothing I tried worked, what puzzled me the most is that there was no visual sign that the device was actively charging, no lights/LEDs on or anything. The charger works just fine, plugged into my phone as a test.
Has anyone experince with this problem and has any tips to share?
Thanks in advance
If you bypassed the expansion card then i assume it’s not the framework charger with the angled edge? If that is the case, what charger are you using?
No it’s the angled charger from framework, I just plugged the angled end into the adapter instead of the laptop and the straight end into the laptop.
Perhaps your RTC battery went flat?
Thanks @Fraoch for linking that, Yeah try that @Maximilian_Ottenberg, if it still doesn’t work then maybe contact support!
@DannyT & @Fraoch thanks to both of you, I just went through the guide and everything worked as descriped, the mainboard leds blinked and all that. I am now keeping the laptop plugged in for 24 hours as was suggested in the guide and I guess I’ll see the result tomorrow
Thanks again guys
Great! Hope everything works fine tomorrow!
Laptop is working just fine now
Thanks for the support
