Remotely restarting a frozen framework desktop

I’m considering buying the framework desktop and am curious about the remote restart options available. I currently use jetkvm and would like the ability to reboot the computer remotely in case it is frozen and locked up.

This Card is designed to enable this, but it isn’t clear if that is even a viable option for the framework desktop.

What are the recomendations/experience people have?

This might be helpful Does the Framework Desktop have Boot on AC power loss within the BIOS?

I guess one question would be, does the EC CCD work on a FW desktop?

If so, you could use that for remote restart, on/off.

From what i can tell, that should work just fine with the FW desktop from a technical standpoint.

Just note there is no external PCIe slot in the case, so you’d need to modify it somewhere to actually physically install it.

Thanks for the information.

I think I see 2 main options

1. Smart Plug

Pros: No customiztion of hardware

Con: Need a separate app to reboot.

It would be nice if it was documented somewhere that power On AC Loss works but the responses here Does the Framework Desktop have Boot on AC power loss within the BIOS? indcate that it works.

2. Custom Case or Custom Case Mod

Pro: More integrated experience, everything can be done through JetKVM

Con: It doesn’t seem like this is easy to do at the moment, I’d want to also see other peoples experience with another case in terms of what the thermals and noise are.

I think I would go with option 1 if I were to pull the trigger on buying this today.
