I’m running Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon on my Framework 13 at the moment and its worked without issue for the most part with one slight hitch, the screensaver.
In every other situation from the main login screen to the console the fingerprint reader works, but on the screensaver its intermittent. If I open the lid once it will ask me for my fingerprint and work flawlessly. The next time I open it there is no option to use my fingerprint, just my password.
I’m new to Linux myself, so trying to diagnose this problem which doesn’t seem to be consistent is baffling to me. Any ideas?
I can confirm this behavior on my FM 13 AMD 7040 running Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon and according to that thread Fedora 40 and Ubuntu 24.10 are also affected:
Seems like the issue is a bit different on Fedora. People in the other thread tell that on Fedora they are prompted for fingerprints after every sleep but fp sensor isn’t working sometimes. (don’t have Fedora to test) In Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon when you open the lid you are asked sometimes for your fingerprints and sometimes not. And my observation is, that after it failed once there is no fingerprint prompt after sleep again until next reboot.
