Right click on touchpad feels loose...?

Hello! Set mine up today and I’m really in love so far.

One thing though is that the right click on my input component feels loose? When I press it, it almost sticks and I can see a gap. Doesn’t do this on the left side. Already re-seated it & redid the screws, and the issue persists when I test the input component alone.

Does anyone else have this issue? Thought about tightening some of the interior screws but I don’t want to break anything ^^;;

Thank you!

You mentioned that you tightened the screws and also want to tighten them.

First thing I’d check is if the screws around the touchpad are loose or not, the framework screwdriver fits them perfectly. Just be careful with the ribbon cable when you take off top case to get to the screws on the underside of the touchpad. There’s not really anything you can break.

Thank you for your reply! I took a look at all the screws (they’re tight) and decided to contact support… probably what I should have done to begin with, but now I can at least post the answer here if anyone has the same issue later :sweat_smile:

I had a similar problem.

I got in contact with support, they get me a manual for changing the touchpad

Problem was, it wasn’t centered, I recentered it and for now it seems to work, but if it changes again I will post

They also sent me a manual for changing the touchpad and well, it made the problem significantly worse at first because it completely reset the touchpad.

I would say to use the manual as a guide, but don’t bother with the ribbons or removing the screws entirely. Instead, just loosen the screws and nudge the touchpad by pinching it between your finger about until it’s centered. Tons of trial and error with this step, took me about an hour to get it just right and I’m a little annoyed because the final touchpad position isn’t flush on both sides.

Ultimately, I enjoyed that I could do this at home without having to send it in under warranty or something, but I will put a word of warning to anyone buying a premade because they’re worried about having to DIY or aren’t confident about repairs. It’s super easy, just time consuming, but it’s definitely not a great experience paying over $1000 USD for a product you have to repair out of the box.
