[solved] (at least I hope) Screen dims and brightens apparently randomly

I have a Framework 13, one of the factory seconds. The screen will randomly and briefly dim then brighten. I’ve replaced the screen.

My question is if others have this issue and if anyone knows if it is a main board issue.
Thank you to those who offered insight.

My guess is it’s the automatic screen brightness. If you’re using GNOME you can disable it here:

I had a very weird problem where the entire screen brightness would change briefly based on the brightness of a particular window. I could reproduce it simply by pausing a game which dimmed the the game window. The entire screen would flicker when I did this.

I eventually solved the problem by changing some settings in the Intel Graphics Command Center. It was a power setting, I think. I’m sort of frustrated with myself because I normally document how I solve weird problems like this, but in this case it seems I didn’t.

I tried just now messing with the Intel Graphics settings to see if I could reproduce the problem again, but I can’t. Anyway, just another thing for you to look into.

I just disable the “automatic screen brightness” in the power settings.
gnome automatic screen brightness is broken. It adjusts the brightness in too bigger steps so your eyes think is a flickering.
Once gnome get round to making it adjust the brightness much more smoothly and slowly, your eyes won’t notice, and it will just work. Much like what happens on all mobile phones.
