[SOLVED]Can't get touchpad flush after disassembly and upgrade

Hey everyone, I’ve had my Framework 13 since around 2021 and decided to upgrade it to a new mainboard, new battery, and to upgrade the screen. I was able to do the disassembly and most of the reassembly, but now here at the last moment I’ve encountered a problem: the touchpad won’t sit flush, and I’m having issues figuring out why.

I can get it flush on either the right or left side, but I can’t get it flush on both at the same time without the touchpad bowing in the middle.

I am really struggling to figure out what the issue is. I thought maybe it was the routing of the antenna and webcam wiring as this gave me a real headache trying to get the bezel flush, but it seems I can get it to be flush on that side. I’m wondering if it’s something in the middle, but looking at the board I see no plausible reason why it would be bowing like this.

The only other thing I can think of is that the plastic housing for a couple screws broke when I was disassembling the laptop (I’ve circled these in the pictures). One was for the mainboard, another for the battery. But even so, the other screws work fine, are screwed in, and looking at the board I don’t see bulging from anywhere with the battery or mainboard.

Anything obvious that I’m missing? Any ideas?

The front tabs on the battery are above the slots, they should be in the slots.

Yep, this was it. Can get it closed now. Feel dumb, but happy it’s over!

You’re not dumb. Stuff happens. You did the right thing and asked for a second set of eyes. I’ve been there many, many times. I’m glad that you were able to get it resolved. Have a great day!
