[SOLVED] Default boot device missing or boot failed

My Specs: Batch 8 DIY Edition, Windows 10 Home, BIOS 3.07, Intel i7-1165G7, WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe

The device boots fine when I (re)start it, but if I leave it running for a bit and it goes into battery saver mode I pretty much always end up receiving the blue screen saying “default boot device missing or boot failed”, when I then restart the pc it boots normally.

Is there something I can do to fix this? I was thinking of trying to repair it through windows own repair tool when boot through an external drive. Tho I am not sure if that would do anything.

Is it possible I made a mistake when installing the new BIOS? I first installed Windows 10 on the 3.06 BIOS my device was shipped with and then installed the 3.07 BIOS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

make sure you’ve updated the ssd firmware, this is a known issue with wd ssds.

@Peter_Schofield thank you so much, that seems to have been it. Installed the WD Dashboard and a firmware update was available.

Cheers
