Figured it out, more or less.
- Press the startup button cleverly hidden next to the screw mount towards the upper-right hand corner, about an inch below the top and 1.5 inches from the right.
- Go into the bios:
2a) ensure that ‘Standalone Mode’ is Enabled
2b) Ensure that auto-power-on is Enabled
