The keyboard of the Framework Laptop 13 is not working; only the touchpad is functioning properly

“What can I do to troubleshoot the issue? The keyboard isn’t working, and I can currently only use an external keyboard.”

Make sure the keyboard connector is plugged into the underside of the input panel.

I confirm it is already properly connected, exactly as shown in the diagram

It’s that short cable, I’d try unplugging it and then plugging it back in just to be sure, making sure the flat flex cable is fully inserted. There’s a tab on the connector you need to un clip by pulling it up before removing the flex.

See step 8.

On a separate note, does the backlight work on the keyboard? Or is that also not working?

Does the fingerprint reader work?

The touchpad is functioning normally, and I’ve tried the steps you suggested. However, the keyboard still doesn’t work—it might be broken. The keyboard backlight also appears to be gone, as you can see in my picture.

Looks like the finger print reader light is also working. Contact support, they should give you a replacement input panel.

As a quick note, the 2nd gen finger print sensor is amazing, I get no misreads. I don’t think they are replacing 1st gen with 2nd gen, but it could be worth asking.

My guess is the board that’s attached to both the backlight and keyboard has a broken part. I thought the two parts were separate though.

Alright, thank you.
