So a couple of quick questions here. Does anyone know of any videos comparing the new and old fans? If the noise on the new fans is better/less annoying I’m seriously considering getting them.
Second question is regarding the new 240W adapter, is this or a different brand with the same output available outside of the US? I haven’t found one yet unfortunately and I definitely need it for my production work, but I refuse to buy anything from the US as long these tariffs are still in effect.
Thanks!
Hi, I saw a video which seemed to suggest that there wasn’t a huge difference between new and old fans. I’ve got absolutely no first hand experience though!
Have you considered using something like Framework Control to tune your fan curve? If you don’t mind the chassis being a bit hotter for longer runs, or if you’re struggling with them just ramping up and down quickly it might be worth taking a look at.
Do you remember where you saw it? Or maybe have a link to share?
I haven’t used the framework fan control yet, I’m one of the unlucky ones with bad thermal performance (unfortunately the PTM didn’t work as good as I had hoped). So until I get it fixed I’ll wear headphones because I do need max performance.
Yup!
Honestly pretty amazing tool.

I have both FW16 GPUs, and the fans are a bit better than on the original, but it’s quite subtle. I think they tuned down the high pitch of the noise, but I expect the overall volume is roughly the same. It’s an improvement but it’s certainly not cost effective.
To clarify, I’m happy with the fan noise improvement, but I think you’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting a big improvement.

That looks awesome, I wasn’t actually expecting that but I was expecting a link to the video comparison
.
I will definitely be looking into it! thanks!
