Trackpad Right-click issues - intermittent across multiple operating systems

  • OS: Currently Fedora 40 but has been Windows 11, Ubuntu (the current supported edition), Linux Mint 21.3; same issue on all OS’s
  • Framework 13

Hi, I’ve had this issue for several months, across multiple operating systems, intermittently.
Sometimes the trackpad will not let me right click on anything. To be clear, gestures still work, and left-click works; its like the whole trackpad becomes left-click, and I have to hunt around to find where the right-click will work, and sometimes I can’t find it. And it seems that if I leave it for several minutes of hours then it goes away for a few days/weeks before it comes back again.

Has anyone else had this issue? does it seem to be a hardware or software issue?

Thanks!

Hey,

I think it may be a mechanical issue where the right click after getting pressed stay in the “pressed” position or cannot press due to a mechanical problem. Might be time for a new trackpad RMA if you still are under warranty (aka contact support)! I don’t have this one mine, and couldn’t find anything related to this. If the issue persist across all OS and is isolated to you, it’s mechanical, not a software issue. The fact that the right click comes back comforts me into this idea of a mechanism going wrong inside the trackpad. Fortunately it’s easy to replace!
