Trying to make a Windows 11 bootable drive on my Linux Framework 16 laptop

Tryna set up my desktop with a bootable drive

Hello I recently moved, sold my previous PC and moved to a new state. My only computer being my trusty Framework 16 with Ubuntu on it. I want to put Windows on my desktop, but I am struggling to make a bootable usb drive for Windows 11. Me being in a new area, and not having too many connection means that I dont have a person that has a Windows machine that I can borrow for a few seconds to create a bootable drive. I keep seeing this link being posted: https://nixaid.com/bootable-usb-windows-linux/

But it leads to a non-existant / private repo. Ive spent the last two nights searching with no currently available solutions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can use Etcher on Linux for example to easily create a bootable usb, then all you need is the Windows ISO for the Windows version you want to install. I’ve put the basic steps for Windows 11 below

How-to:

  1. Download Etcher tool for Linux.
  2. Extract the zip files.
  3. Run the Balena Etcher executable.
  4. Download the Windows 11 ISO (not the Windows media installer, a bit more down on the page you will find “Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)”, this is the one you want. Select the multi-edition ISO for x64 devices in the drop-down menu and download it).
  5. Plug-in the USB you wish to use as a bootable media.
  6. Select the Windows ISO you’ve downloaded in Etcher.
  7. Select the USB you’ve plugged in to your computer in Etcher.
  8. Click on flash and wait until finished.
  9. Shutdown then boot into the USB and complete the Windows installation.
