Welcome! Please introduce yourself - 2nd edition

Hi Everyone,
My name is Pranshu. I am a tech nerd & maker by night and an Industrial/UX Designer by day from India(unable to get Framework here, yetšŸ˜ž), learned about Framework from LTT.

I strive to create modular & sustainable design (Charles and Ray Eames, Dieter Rams :star_struck:)

I love tech, cars, and LEGO

PS - does anyone remember Project Ara, I wanted it to be viable.

Thanks,
Pranshu

Hi, my name is Felix. Iā€™m a data scientist in vienna, austria. I canā€™t remember where and how I first learned about framework exactly, it was somewhere in the ā€œright to repair / diy / sustainabilityā€ sphere. Iā€™m looking forward to not only pay for my hardware but also ā€œowningā€ it for hopefully a long time.

hey! iā€™m hank!
i had found out about framework via linus tech tips a LONG time ago, but just recently decided to hop on board with the teaser of the 16 inch laptop, which has EVERYTHING i could ever want in a portable computer and more.

i have been a huge nerd since birth and have always been infatuated with the computer. i am interested in everything, in all honesty. i kinda collect hobbiesā€¦

i am big in to internet (and irl) business and trade cryptocurrency/manage assets with my biz partner (among MANY other things such as ecom and lead generation for mostly tech based businesses, even have owned a small vpn company, etc).
aside from this, i program, make some content and music, love my civic, go to the gym and study things i am interested in ā€“ again, i could never pick anything specific to write about, so:
outside of computers, pharmacology, philosophy and psychology are super fascinating to me. but, if it can be done in any shape, form or fashion digitally, i believe i aught to learn it.

i hope that i can lurk here as i do everywhere else and learn a bit more about the sciences behind hardware as i have seen that many users here are EXTREMELY apt while also continuing to get fired up about the 16in drop.

i hope i can provide some useful insight to the folks at framework and learn while contributing simultaneously!

have a great day everyone ā€“ see u digitally soon

Hello, my name is Ellis, I have turned 27 this month and I have just recently taken my interest seriously in terms of DIY culture after the whole lockdown and pandemic etc. etc. Iā€™ve noticed that despite my rebellious youth in political activism, I wasnā€™t really practicing what I preached. So as I get older, I kind of want to phase into that form, and how I came about Framework was really through adopting a low waste lifestyle. I know that tech companies and corporations of the like make the most waste in the environment and have the biggest impact on destroying the environment. There is also a level of personal guilt that people can rid themselves of if they opt out of supporting these companies, and it started with me researching the TeraCube and Fairphone, and then it ā€œrabbit holed.ā€

Hello community,

My name is Chris. I just put in my pre-order for the DIY AMD Ryzen 7 to replace my 15" Surface Book 2 which is nearing its last leg. I have been following the Framework Laptop for a while, after watching the first LTT video/review, but never made the jump. The reusability and modular approach that Framework has adopted was a leading factor in my decision to invest in this great company. I look forward to using my new laptop and being able to bring my feedback to the community.

Hi there! Iā€™m Caleb F, and Iā€™ve been in the IT industry for 18 months in a helpdesk/net admin position. I love the framework ideologies and have just received by 12thgen Framework 13. I learned of Framework from LTT, and have been following your developments for a year. Iā€™m excited to experiment with the modular I/O cards and collaborate with community members on developing new ones. Itā€™s incredibly rare to find a technology company that allows its customers to ā€œownā€ their hardware, and Iā€™m here for the ride!

Hello! I do Azure Automations (PS, Bicep, C#) for clients. I found out about Framework from YouTube reviews and while looking for a good Linux laptop for a reasonable price. I like the concept of reusability, and it should be fun to actually ā€œworkā€ on a laptop!

Hopefully we can help each other out with tips/tricks/gotchas, keep Framework accountable, and help Framework be a force to be reckoned with!

Hi, 56yo Apple-emigrant already thinking I may have got myself in WAY deeper than I can handleā€¦ Tired of Appleā€™s gouging, dishonesty and shitty-business practice I loved what I saw in Framework and Rossmans endorsement sealed the deal. Not a fan of Windows but donā€™t know if I have the capability to run Linux (much preferred for security, speed, etc). Had the 12th Gen for months but only just got it out of the box cos it all seemed a bit overwhelming but the 2012 MBP has almost zero memory left and I wanna get out of it and iCloud ASAPā€¦

BUT already stuck on the first screen on first start up - Boot Managerā€¦ no idea what to do and canā€™t find a help topicā€¦

If anyone can point in the right direction to get moving forward and recommend the most intuitive means of entering the Linux world Iā€™d be most grateful

Thanks in advance
Adam

Hi , J.

Hello all! Iā€™m Baris from Istanbul, Turkey. I have been using laptops for over 2 decades and I always hated that I had to sell my laptop and buy another one because I needed a better GPU or CPU. Iā€™m actually using a MacBook Pro at the moment because at least the value does not drop that harshly when I need to upgrade. I always dreamt of something like FrameWork and I fell in love with the product the first time I saw in on LTT.

Hello Everyone,

Iā€™m Chr from Germany. I leaned about Framework from the LTT Video. I Instantly fallen in love to the concept of the Framework Laptop but it was not available in Germany at this time. So I waited till December 2021 until they launched it in Germany. The next day I placed the PreOrder on a DiY 1135g7 FL13. I followed the route of my laptop with shipping trackers until it finally landed on my doorstep in March 2022. I put in a 1TB SN750, 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM and installed Windows 10.

The Framework is my first Laptop. I build myself a Gaming Desktop in 2017 and did not need a Laptop back then. But i do not regret my purchase. Except for the BIOS battery lifetime problem i did not had any issues so far.

Hi folks,

Iā€™m Claudia, a former Mac enthusiast who left the Apple ecosystem last year for more user-freedom-respecting pastures.
I bought my Framework laptop (12th-gen Intel) five months ago to replace a 2013 MBP. Mainly using it for little side projects and for picking up TypeScript and Python.
Iā€™m also quite into package management, so Iā€™m active in the AUR.
Happy to be part of this community!

Greetings from Darmstadt, Germany,
Claudia
