Dear all,
There is a new Firmware update for the WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD (WDS500G4X0E-00CJA0)
The new firmware version is 7619M0WD for the 500GB, 1TB and 2TB.
I could not find any information about this new version, except on this obscure french website: SanDisk propose le firmware 7619M0WD/7616H0WD pour le SSD WD_BLACK SN7100. Apparently it was released the 6th of March 2026.
I have successfully updated my SSD on Linux. So far no problem, I just fell that my laptop is booting Linux a bit faster than before.
I tried this script but got a Python error: Western Digital Drive Update Guide Without Windows/WD Dashboard - #47 by not_a_feature
So instead, I ended up following these instructions using nvme: Update firmware WD Black SN770 firmware on Arch Linux · GitHub
They are actually very close to the one shared above: Western Digital Drive Update Guide Without Windows/WD Dashboard - #54 by c.s
