I recently received my DIY Framework 13 and am loving it so far.
I gave the RZ717 WiFi card a try for a bit and encountered some performance issues that others have mentioned. I wound up swapping it out for an AX210 which does perform more reliably.
I’ve found Frameworks documentation and instructions for these types of things to absolutely phenomenal, amazing job team!
I wanted to give some feedback regarding the documentation for the WiFi swap process, documented at WiFi Replacement Guide - Framework Guides
It seems that the WiFi module retention backet design changed in the 2025 model and differs enough that I was quite confused when doing the swap and it took some time and patience on my part.
Specifically, it seems that the bracket is now a plastic slip-on bit that has a captive screw. I had to undo the screw, and then pop up the whole module and bracket as one to get it out. I thought the bracket would come out as described in the documentation, and I wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong, and I was scared of breaking something.
Once I realized this, the rest of the process went smoothly, aside from trying to nudge the antenna wires around to allow the bracket to sit correctly so the screw would catch.
I hope this feedback helps to improve the documentation!
