I ordered the Core Ultra 7 155H model DIY with the new display and only 64GB of the high speed ram preinstalled and some green accessories. I’ll be adding my own drive and dual booting Zorin Linux and Win 11 Pro. I would think a DIY with just memory modules needing to be dropped in the box before sealing might make it an early shipper but the green accessories may skew that expectation.
I also decided to go for the 155H CPU and chose green bezel and USB-C module. No idea if different colors can have influence on the shipping date.
Personally I’ll go “safe” using latest Ubuntu LT 24.04 as I’m already using it on my current laptop and it’s working (almost) perfectly. But as it’s Ubuntu based, I supposed there should not be much difference with Zorin OS.
Should it be generally assumed that they are fulfilling the orders in the order in which they were placed?
As in orders placed at the beginning of June would start being charge/delivered at the beginning of September and and end of June would be end of September?
I received a shipping email today. The details say the label was created and the ship date hasn’t been determined yet. So they need to take it to Fedex! Hurry up and I’ll buy you some coffee! LOL
I believe that’s one of the factors. If someone else places their order after yours but it has a different configuration and it becomes ready before yours, we would ship it.
We had an initial issue where the screen wouldn’t turn on at all, not even a brief backlight. After trying a few things in other threads, it turned out that the cable behind the screen was a bit loose; reseating that fixed the issue. Something to keep in mind if you see anything similar.
Got mine today! (July 15th order date.)
Trackpad is the best I’ve used so far for Linux. Keyboard is excellent and I’m loving the new screen. I replaced the thermal paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme and am running Fedora 40 and it’s great!
It’s still possible. When I pre-ordered my FW16 earlier in the year, once I got the ‘Billing Complete’ e-mail it was shipped pretty fast and got to me in three or four days. It came via air up the West coast of Asia (over Japan) to Alaska, USA. Then came down into the lower-48 to get to me. Thankfully these are coming via ship.
Saying that, I still have not received my ‘Billing Complete’ next stage e-mail yet.
Below is my pre-ordered config. Processor type or options may be contributing to delay. I also entered my pre-order on July 31st so I was probably toward the end of the list as well.

I’m bringing my own DDR5 and SSD. Honnestly I wasn’t expecting such a delay as it was not showing Batch 2 since a very long time when I ordered I think. Ordering a framework laptop is a good way to test limits of patience
Seriously, if mine doesn’t ship next week, I’m going to cancel. It’s one thing to have been mislead into waiting all of August, but now we’re almost at the end of September.
