I didn’t know about the Framework Laptop 13 Pro until a news article about its release popped up on my news feed. It was still work time, so I thought, “cool, I’ll check it out later”, and went back to work. When I finally checked it out after a few hours and made up my mind to at least place a pre-order, the first 5 batches were already sold out, and now I have to wait an extra month compared to the batch 1 guys.
My configuration:
System: Ultra X7 358H
Memory: 64 GB
Storage: Sandisk 850X 1 TB
Laptop Bezel: Black
Keyboard: US English Gray/Black
Expansion Cards: 3× USB-C + 1× USB-A, all graphite
I ordered a X7 with 32GB of RAM. I opted for 32 with the idea of updating in the future and avoid buying with today’s crazy prices, but I am still thinking about the 64GB (maybe the RAM market could get even worse?).
My pre-order page now says the order is expected to ship in September - is there any explanation for this? I knew about the original delay to August from July, but it seems it’s been pushed back even further? Has there been any info shared about this?
I’m leaving my for 4 months in September and I really wanted to take my 13 Pro with me, so this is very disappointing.
I’m also batch 6 and based on your message I went to check my account. My order now says September as well. My guess is they estimated the delays would push our orders to August but it’s looking like it will be closer to a 2 month delay.
I believe I responded to your Reddit post, but cross-sharing here as well: We had some internal mix-ups on ship date communication, and we want to confirm the latest schedule with our operations team and manufacturing partners before sharing an update.
Does anyone know if the Batch 6 is starting to ship for the AMD version? Looking at the batch lists on the configure page shows that Batch 6 AMD version is expected this month.
Got the same email today as well! It definitely seems like AMD orders are shipping faster than Intel. Probably because of LPCAMM2 availability is worse than SODIMM potentially
Got my order delivered yesterday. Arch install went smooth, other than my LVM/LUKS setup giving me some issues (operator error). It was late once I got everything up and running so haven’t had much time to fully test. Really impressed with the hardware quality and just overall feel of the laptop. Coming from a 2018 MacBook Pro that’s really feeling it’s age, I’m thrilled with display and keyboard feel. Worth the wait.
Yes, Intel, X7. From monitoring the previous batches, they don’t go all at the same time, so just wait a bit and you should receive it within the next day or so
Does the AMD version of the 13 Pro not come with a thermal pad for the SSD? I’ve seen two unboxing videos including this recent one where it doesn’t include the thermal pad.
Has anyone received a shipping notification yet? I’m excited for mine and was wondering if it could potentially arrive Friday-ish, but I haven’t received a notification yet since the charge on Monday (Intel).
