I did as well. Added another stick of RAM.
Ordered my DIY mid-level i7 on October 20th and got my second email this morning; no charge or tracking number quite yet.
I’m looking at the order dates and the last names (for those of us who used them in our screen names) and there has to be some formula behind the scenes. Like, orders from week X are processed alphabetically, or something like that. Bailey gets the email today, Clements got his email, Conrad is still waiting.
Mustafa S is still waiting. Hoping that my order modification on Nov 9th didn’t set me way back.
If my alphabetical order theory is right, I should get the email any minute now! But if my “six weeks” theory is right, it’ll be next week or the week after. I’m on the edge of my seat!
I don’t think its Alphabetical, Last name is R, ordered the i7 1165g7 Oct 19, got the email at midnight last night.
Does anyone else live in Canada? I was just wondering if any Canadian’s have received their laptop yet. I’m still waiting for my second e-mail.
I’m in Canada, ordered on Oct 22, but nothing after the first email yet.
Looks like my order is getting ready to ship. A timeline for those equally impatient:
Oct 14: Ordered i7-1165G7 / 16GBx2 / 1TB SN850
Oct 27: Slight modification to preorder (added modules)
Nov 1: “We’re preparing your batch!”
Nov 16 (12am CST): “We’re preparing to ship your order!”
Nov 16 (9pm CST): Card charged, “Your order is shipping soon”
Looks like it’ll arrive right at the start of a 9 day vacation. Works for me!
I doubt modifying your order through support alters your place in the queue. It’s likely just FIFO based on your SKU.
Just got my email today saying the remaining balance has been paid. Finally gonna be getting my laptop. Very excited.
Canadian here. I got my second email last night.
October 17 diy i5
Yay! They took my money today and it should be getting shipped soon. I7 DIY ordered October 12
i got my second email for my preconfig i5 (plus 6 expansion cards). hoping for under 2 weeks untill i get it now. i live outside toronto so idk about shipping.
@wylie_keeping That’s great! I read some people talking about how framework might be going through the orders somewhat alphabetically, which would really suck for me… I’d love to hear more about how shipping goes once they send it out, I’m in a similar area to you.
My order from Oct 14 was cancelled since it couldnt be modified to add more expansion cards. @FrameworkSupport said they couldnt reinstate my order and I had to place a new one which will be shipped in December. This is unfair.
@Framework
Received my i5-based laptop (ordered Sep 24). Absolutely love it! I installed this SSD which I purchased separately:
I installed the memory and wifi card which came with the laptop.
I disabled secure boot in the BIOS and installed Manjaro Linux (GNOME, 5.13 kernel).
https://download.manjaro.org/gnome/21.1.6/manjaro-gnome-21.1.6-211017-linux513.iso
The install went flawlessly. Wifi works. I love the trackpad. The operation is buttery smooth.
I couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of this laptop! Also, this is my first exposure to Manjaro Linux, and so far so good.
I ordered mine on the 31st of October. Got no other email except for the “confirm your order, we’re getting ready to ship” email.
I am curious how they go about choosing the orders to fill. I ordered on the 14th and haven’t received my second email.
Did you open a support ticket, per their support documentation, to modify your order? This would be a rather unique experience if so, as many others (myself included) were able to send an email to modify their orders without delaying shipment.
The only exception is if you’re changing your product SKU entirely (eg, changing from an i5 to an i7). Because orders are batched and shipped based on the SKU itself, you wouldn’t be able to maintain your position in line since you’d be negatively impacting other customers who were already waiting in line for that SKU.
Card charge went through. It’s a matter of days
