Hi, this is my first framework product.
I bought a Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard (12th Gen Intel® Core™) - i7-1260P and installed a 32 GB RAM to Channel 0 and a 2TB SSD to the storage slot. It didn’t boot up when I plug in my 65W charger. Not even the LED on the board lights up.
Is there anything I need to do?
Thank you!
What is the make / model of the ram?
To diagnose this unplug the ssd and wifi, leaving just the ram. Try removing the ram and installing it again. That might reseat it better.
The display will not work until the ram works.
Note: we are just other users on here. Contact FW support to get support from FW themselves.
Hi James! Thank you for your reply. The ram I used is Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT2K32G4SFD832A. I tried installing one of them and both of them but the board still wouldn’t boot.
I have also contacted Framework support! Waiting for them to reply.
Hi,
Another thing it might be. Maybe the FW13 is not compatible with your PSU.
The FW13 supplied one is 60W.
What make/module of Power adapter are you using?
Is this a new laptop direct from FW, or purchased second hand.
I only ask, because a new Battery will have a little charge in it so you should get some life from it even with the PSU not working.
If its a second hand battery, it might be low, and thus need a working charger to charge it.
Have you followed the guides exactly on how to put the new FW13 laptop together?
Some of the steps might be wrong, so read all the “comments” in the Guide as well.
I am hoping that it is just one minor step you have missed, or a loose cable, or something like that.
Also, when you attempt to power on the unit and it fails, it should output some flashing LED pattern to the LEDs next to the USB-C power socket.
Also, try the RAM in the other socket.
