I used to use little plastic dots to make keys like F5 (reload webpage) feel different, but I’ve since switched to just a bit of glue on separate keys (F5 or WASD or ESDF) to make sure I don’t have to look at the keyboard when I need to have my fingers in specific spots.
I’m interested in what others use for the same problem, and why there’s not more factory options for this for laptops in general and FW in particular.
If anyone has a good solution I would love to find out.
At the bottom of the F and J keys there is small ridge. When I was taught typing (many years ago) it was pointed out that those designated the “home” keys for the left and right hands. All other keys were found by touch typing training from those locations. Function keys vary in location from keyboard to keyboard so there you have to learn their position for each one.
I would also be interested if anyone has a “technique” for locating the function keys. I’ve usually just glanced down for those.
