How many customers have had issues with their Framework batteries expanding out of the case?
This happened twice now with two different motherboards attached to two different size batteries.
I would rather check on the usage.
Batteries tend to expand when maxed charge in a warm environment, and then stored in a cold environment.
The battery chemistry can’t hold the same charge on lower temperatures. The excess energy has to go somewhere in that case.
Best is to make sure the battery is not charge above 85% when going out and exposing it to cold temperatures.
are you referring to swollen batteries or something else?
Greetings,
Thank you for the constructive replies. To clarify, I have had two batteries go bad on me in two years, as in they do not hold a charge and those two batteries have visually expanded the case like a ballon. To be fair, Framework support has addressed this issue and my laptop is mobile again. As despite some of the negative content that I have been reading in the community feeds, Framework support responds quickly and addresses any issues thoroughly. I am uncertain as to the cause of this issue overall. However, my use of the Framework 13 is usually docked with a keyboard and mouse and at least two monitors, so the fact that my machine spends most of its time docked at %100 battery and rarely gets discharged could have something to do with the cause of this repeat issue that I have been having with my Framework batteries. I have been thinking to set the battery level to a partial setting in the BIOS, just as the first suggestion to this thread recommends. As a further clarification on this one and only issue that I have experienced with Frameworks, that I could not fix with the Framework documentation online. I connect to dozens of virtual machines and Azure resources from the Framework 13, I have even run multiple virtual machines from the Framework 13 itself, that it handles quite well, along with a workstations load of tabs and applications. The performance of the Framework 13, when used as either a mobile or as a docked desktop has been excellent. I am using the i7-1370P Intel system with 64GB of ram. Commentary; I would love to see Framework starting to use Lithium Polymer batteries in future units or replacements. I use a 5G antenna on the Framework 13, like icing on a cake, this is one feature that I would really like to see built into an internal expansion card in the future. I enjoy using this system, it is significant in computing power, durable and reparable.
