Framework 13 Charging Rate

OS (Operating System): Windows 11
Framework Product: Laptop 13 AMD 7040 series
BIOS: 3.07

Hey all, I’ve been having some odd charging issues with my Framework 13 in the last few weeks. I’ve been traveling in Europe for the last week, and while I was there, I noticed my computer was charging very flowsly (e.g. multiple hours even while off to charge to full power). When I got home yesterday, I installed HWINFO and saw that the laptop was only charging only at 10W even while plugged into different 65W Anker chargers (I tried multiple cables and chargers) and I was definitely using the appropriate high power USB C ports on the AMD 7040 motherboard.

Now here’s the odd part. I rebooted into BIOS (I had 3.05 at the time), didn’t change anything, and then went back to Windows and immediately I saw an improvement. HWINFO is now reporting a 30W charging rate. That’s still half of the advertised 60W charge rate but at least manageable. I’ve updated the BIOS to 3.07 now and still seeing only 30W charge rate.

Has anyone else tested their Framework 13 charging? I thought these were rated for 60W charging. Has anyone seen the drop to 10W?

Windows 11 has background bloat and it might eat up up to 30W when idling and charging.
FL13 draws up to 2924mA from a 65W charger, that’s 58.48W, minus this by idling load and energy conversion losses, 30W charging is pretty normal.

You can use a 100W charger, and the battery should charge at 61W before 16.6V, then 43W, and finally slow down as the battery voltage approaches 17.8V
