Framework 13 Screen Issue

Hi all, Looking for some help with my Laptop.

  • Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series)
  • Windows 11

It had been working fine for months then has suddenly developed an issue with the screen. It appears that the screen doesn’t turn on at all despite the power lights coming on, however when looking closely the framework logo can be seen very faintly on start up and subsequently a bright light shone directly at the screen reveals the clock of the windows login screen. It is as if the screen suddenly has no backlight at all. Plugging an external display in via HDMI also reveals the laptop to be on and functional what appears normally via the external display. I purchased and replaced the -Framework Laptop 13 Display Kit - Original- assuming that it was a cable issue however the exact same issue persists with the screen replaced. I am therefore looking for advice to help diagnose and fix the issue. Any advice greatly appreciated thank you.

Sounds like the screen works, but the backlight isn’t. I had an issue with mine where the display cable wasn’t seated probably into the display, which somehow led to the backlight not engaging. Good hunting

Try contacting the framework support, as this seems to be a dead backlight. Pretty easy to fix if you want to open the laptop and verify the screen is wall connected; unplug and replug should do the trick if its a connection problem, you got the framework guides to see which cable it is. If this doesn’t fix it, send it back to RMA.
