- OS: Arch (but it’s not an arch issue)
- Framework 13 AMD 7040
- Internal Display doesn’t work after swapping out bezel. External display still works perfectly fine
- I’ve tried reseating the display / display cable multiple times without any change.
- The one thing that I can think of, is that my old bezel was stuck to the black tape at the bottom of the display and pulled some of it off. * Here are some pictures and a video of the light codes
The damage to the bottom of the display(tape) is concerning. I do not know this display in depth but other screens that I have experience with normally have the controller and backlight controller there. When you use the external display does it recognize the internal display still? If it does try looking at the display in a bright light and at various angles. If its a backlight issue you can usually see what is on the LCD, but it will be very dark and difficult to see.
Thanks for the response!! It looks like the display isnt recognized and I don’t think its and issue with the backlight because I cant see even a slimmer of anything, even when shining a light on the display.
The only other thing I can suggest is to check over the display cable and the port on the motherboard for any signs of damage. Use a magnifying glass if you have one as the pins in the connector are small. As a last resort you can try to peel back that black tape/covering on the bottom of the display, but I would not do that unless you feel that the screen is a lost cause. I do not know if anything is serviceable there.
I found this, I do not know if you have referenced it:
If I ignore the initial blue blink the 12th blink was red indicating the internal display did not initialize. Did that display connector become disconnected when you pulled the bezel off? If the connector is fine you may just need a new display.
Yeah there shouldn’t be anything wrong with the cable as it had never came undone and I have tried reseating the cable without any luck. I’m going to peel back the black tape and see if I can find anything. Thank you so much for your help, it’s so frustrating that a simple bezel change somehow cost me my 2.8k display ![]()
I get the frustration. My FW13 has a cracked bezel at the moment and I will replace it at some point. I will be extra careful replacing it when the time comes from your experience. If you need anything else send a reply. I am more than happy to take a look.
