FW13 Pro Batch 8 Guild

Following the footsteps of all the other threads

First post on framework community, and very excited.

Patiently waiting on my batch 8 to be shipped. Sadly I waited a day before placing my pre order… wish I didn’t. Also I seem to be the rare unit with the base spec just to have a framework and retire my Lenovo.

My configuration:

Ultra 5 325 4.5GHz
16GB
512GB PCIe® 4.0

Went with the pre build as it was cheaper than custom at the time.

Expansion Cards: 4× USB-C + 1× USB-A, HDMI & DP

Planning on running Linux Mint

Ultra 7 358H
Bought my own RAM 32GB and 4TB storage back when I pre-ordered as pricing at the time was better on the open market.
Purple Bezzle, Blank Black Ansi keyboard (might swap back to Clear once I see some backlight images)
USB-C Translucent Green, Purple and Orange
Ethernet
USB-A, MicroSD & HDMI

Likely NixOS or Cachy with Niri/Noctalia and some experimenting with sr-iov passthrough for a windows VM explicitly for my 3d scanner.

Hello fellow Batch 8 !

  • System : Ultra 5 325
  • Memory : Crucial LPCAMM2 32Gb
  • Storage : Lexar NM790 1To
  • Expansion Cards :
    1Tb (2nd Gen)
    2x USB-C (Lavender & Graphite)
    USB-A
    HDMI
    DisplayPort

However my RAM is stuck in Greece because of a wrong postal code of the shipper when sending it to France. Hope to have it soon !

Will try Fedora KDE for a comeback to Linux as I want maximum battery life for travel photography (on darktable)

Batch 8 gang

Ubuntu Prebuilt: Intel X7 358H, 32GB, 1TB

Ports (all black): 2× USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and microSD

I made my pre-order expecting to use it for the second half of the summer through to uni.

The delays made me consider picking up a Lenovo instead so I could have it before my family moved cross-country, but neither the X1 Carbon nor the T14 had (or has) variants with X-series Panther Lake chips available in my country. So it was either fork out an extra 700 bucks for a P14, import a ThinkBook 14+ from China, or buy a cheaper laptop to hold me over until September. I ended up going with the latter, as I found a pretty good deal on a 16GB AMD T14 Gen 1 in perfect physical condition with 90% battery health for 320 CAD (230 USD).

Planning to use the Framework for school stuff, 3D design, coding, lighter games, and some console emulation. Might use Ubuntu or Cachy, but likely not exclusively, as I still have some software that just does not run on Linux.

Looking forward to it !

I had a 32GB Crucial module ordered from an eBay seller back in April, but they canceled on me. Switched to a Framework provided module, but we all know what happened there…

Still excited though! I can make 16GB work, just can’t be lazy with my browser tabs XD

Like a lot of folks here I am… tired… of Windows. I’ve been dabbling in Linux and will probably go with Mint, but might dual boot it with Bazzite.
