With batch 1 going out it’s starting to feel like time to get one of these going for batch 3. I didn’t find an existing one so my apologizes if I missed it.
The following are the selections I went with:
Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition
Ultra X7 358H
64GB
Bezel - Translucent Black
US English - Graphite - Gray/Black
I didn’t pick up a M.2 since and will just use an older 1TB SSD I thankfully have from before the mempocolipse.
I’m really liking the new keyboard options. The splashes of orange on the keyboard I went with are very much up my alley.
Hope we might get a shipping notification by mid-August.
I went with the following configuration:
Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition
CPU: Ryzen AI 7 350
RAM: None
Storage: None
Bezel: Black
Keyboard: German – Graphite
Expansion Cards:
1× USB-A (2nd Gen, Graphite)
1× HDMI (3rd Gen, Graphite)
2× USB-C (Graphite)
I skipped the RAM and storage because they were very expensive, even back then. Luckily, I managed to get a 16 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM kit for €50 earlier this year. If RAM prices drop again, I might upgrade to 64 GB.
I also have a Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB SSD lying around from an old business machine that I bought cheaply from my former employer, so that’s more than enough storage for my needs.
I would have gone with the Intel platform, but after the announcement the market for reasonably priced LPCAMM modules in the EU was basically wiped out. I almost managed to grab some on Kleinanzeigen, but someone else beat me to them.
I’m especially excited that we finally got the haptic touchpad. In most cases, that means I won’t have to pull out my MX Anywhere 3S just to avoid using the old diving-board-style touchpad.
I’m planning to install CachyOS with KDE and use the laptop while traveling for media consumption, managing my homelab, and making use of downtime in hotels to improve and maintain it.
I have also paid on Monday and I am checking twice a day my FW account to see whether I find a tracking number. OK, I could probably also wait for an email to arrive, but I am excited like a kid before Christmas. Seeing that batch 1 is just about to arrive, it will probably still take some days.
BTW, I went for a Intel 358H, 4 TB SSD, 64 GB RAM (yes, it hasn’t gotten cancelled) plus the usual set of expansion cards.
Same here, I could just wait patiently, but it’s a bit too exciting for that. I like to check the FedEx app too on the off chance I see a label generated
In the past it’s seemed to me like it was a batch each week and all at about the same time sort of ridged shipping structure, but it’s seeming like this time around it’s a little more fluid. I’m still betting they will get all the batch 3 within the same week, but a bit different from what I’ve seen previously.
I also haven’t got a shipping notification yet. I think it depends on the config. I ordered a Swiss keyboard and a 10 Gig NIC so maybe that delays it a bit further as they are also new and with the trackpad issues they had, it might take a bit longer for them to make the input covers for non-US layouts.
I hope I receive a shipping notification tomorrow; otherwise, I might contact Support to ask about the delay, since there has been no official communication explaining why it is taking so long to ship, even though I have already been charged like others here.
