A few months ago, I contacted support because my battery was showing around 60% battery health. However, it seems that since then, it has consistently dropped to around 60% for a day or so, then returned to around 90%-99% for several days to a few weeks. I haven’t said anything about it to support because I don’t want to seem rude or annoying. What should I do?
You should stop worrying about a number in a list. If your run time is fine, so is the battery.
Granted, but during the times that the battery health is below 70%, the battery life gets cut almost in half (in time to empty numbers) This is going to affect me as I’m going back to college and need it to last until my night time classes and I’ll have it active 3+ hours before then and I get about 4 hours battery life under load
Do you have the charge limit or battery saver enabled?
The voltage is too low, continue charging for at least 3 hours and see if that works
OK, I will
So, I left it plugged in all night at it did go back to normal, but I fear that it will go back down to around 60% health again and half the battery life like it does every few weeks or so (sometimes less). I’ll keep monitoring it to let you guys know, but for now, it’s back to normal and battery life is back up to 4 hours which is 1 hour more than the average 3 I need each day before I can charge (I’m just on the go a lot I guess).
I found a couple of power banks on Amazon. The Anker one claims it is TSA-approved, but the one from AOHI is more affordable, allegedly offering the same 140W single-port output. I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to get one of these for when my laptop’s battery life craps out.
The one from AOHI:
The one from Anker:
There is a known issue with power banks
Cannot negotiate charging for certain portable EPR power banks.
And Anker is a known culprit
I own this one from ugreen and it works
Thx for letting me know. Also, after a normal days use of the laptop I got this screen when monitoring the power and of course the battery lifetime went to less than half of normal
I noticed that the voltages are all out of whack and I wonder if that has something to do with it
Also, Linux Mint has just implemented power control daemons like in Fedora and Ubuntu so I wonder if that has anything to to with it.
I’m getting very concerned because it seems that it’s getting worse. I’m just going to contact support. I really am lost on what to do besides that
i dont think asking support about an issue is rude, i think they will appreciate having feedback on their product
Thank you, I really appreciate this company, and sometimes I feel bad every time there’s an issue with my laptop, but they have really been very nice about it so I don’t feel as bad as often
Thank you for showing me that one, I’ll use the one that’s probably going to work
For the power banks it’s not all Akner devices. I’m using the one you linked and haven’t had any problems with it. It seemed the issue was with the 737 model mostly. There were a few other 140W power banks that had issues if I recall correctly. I think the big issue might have been with certain power banks that supply over 100W charging. I read through that entire thread before I ended up making a purchase. I recall not being 100% certain it would work when I bought it.
@thereel_RTM the Anker one is still an option. Just make sure you’re getting the 250W one that ISN’T the 737.
Thank you, I really would like to have as many milliampere hours (and wattage) as possible whilst still being able to take it on a plane
