When charging with the expansion 5070, the only charging indicator light will be the one on the right side of the laptop. Is this the same with others? Does anybody know if there will be plans to add an indicator to the 5070 or possibly light up both LEDs on each side to indicate expansion bay charging?
There is no battery in the expansion bay. There is only one battery in the laptop and it provides power to the motherboard and to the expansion bay. The reason of the indicator light is to show which port is providing the power to charge the laptop.
he never said it was a battery in gpu expansion bay card that has RTX 5070, but it does have a USB C port on back side. So he’s referring when hes charging through USB-C port there he would like it to light up to indicate laptop is charging. Right now it seems indicators on left and right does not re-act to charging state so laptop isn’t showing it’s charging while he connects USB-C cable there.
I use the usb-c port at the back for the 5070 for charging as well, as that frees up the otheRs ![]()
But yeah it picked the right led to show charging, if you use the side ports it would use either left or right depending on which side you plugged into.
With out knowing anything about the firmware I there, to me it feels like a software defined thing the coder just happend to pick right because it made sense to that person ![]()
