I’m having a strange issue with my Framework 13 AMD (7840) where, sometimes, when plugging the laptop in for the first time it will not charge and will drain the battery (while plugged in). In order to get to to charge all I have to do is unplug it and plug it back in.
I think this mostly happens when the laptop is near or at full charge when plugged in for the first time but I’m not positive this is the only time it’s happened. This issue has occurred while plugged into the included 60W charger as well as when plugged into my Thunderbolt 4 hub.
The strange thing is my OS (Arch Linux) acts like it’s connected to AC power, that is, when plugged in for the first time the screen brightens and it the power profile automatically changes to “Balanced” (from “Power Saver”). However, after using the laptop (plugged in) for a while I’ll notice the battery has drained during use.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it possible this is hardware related? How can I further troubleshoot this?
Just want to hop in and say I have the same issue on the same system. White LED turns on, waiting several minutes it does not change to orange. I unplug and replug the system and it changes to orange. I think I’ve only experienced this issue when the system was off (?)
I will say that I haven’t noticed the issue in the last week or two. I haven’t changed anything other than regular system updates (including a kernel update to 6.12) so maybe it was software related? Will report back if it occurs again though.
And the dock is definitely working. My laptop is outputting display to the connected monitor and the connected peripherals are working as expected.
After unplugging and re-plugging the thunderbolt cable it is now charging.

Side note: I’m not sure sure why acpi reports two batteries. Maybe that has something to do with the issue. Can anyone else with this issue run acpi and share your output.
