There are three things that get on my nerves about the MicroSD Expansion Card …

  1. The MicroSD card goes in upside-down
  2. You need tweezers to get the card back out
  3. Despite this, the card always sticks out a a little. A tiny fragile sliver begging to be hit when moving the laptop.

I just discovered, if I turn the expansion card into a dongle, all of these are fixed.

  1. Now the card stays right-side up
  2. A tiny bit of grinding lets me to use fat fingers to remove cards.
  3. It’s big … you won’t forget it before sliding the laptop into your bag.

So yeah, this is nicer, but I sure would like to see a rev that fixes these and remains an expansion card.

Ain’t it spring loaded in a way where if you push the card in, it will be pushed back out by the slot?

It’s already “right-side-up” in your picture, which would be the exact same orientation if it was installed in the slot. Your number 1 point is a non-issue.

Only thing I wish it had was a spring eject mechanism. It couldn’t have been that much more to include that, but Framework cheeped out on it.

But since you are using it like a normal dongle anyway, would have been better to just buy a standard usb dongle, which can be found in much smaller sizes.

Yeah, that’s the way it should have been designed. Then you could remove the MicroSD card with your fingers and it wouldn’t break when you chuck the laptop in your bag.
