PXE boot via WiFi

Hello,

Trying PXE for the first time and hitting an issue.

I am trying to get PXE boot via WiFi on AMD AI series 13 laptop. I have secure boot disabled, network stack enabled and PXE boot enabled in the bios. I have tried with fast boot disabled as well.

When I boot up and F2 and choose EFI PXE 0 for IP4 I get the message

“network media is not present, retry media connections 1 time(s)”
“network media is not present, retry media connections 2 time(s)”

Then I get the message:

Error: could not detect network connection

Then a GUI window saying the EFI PXE 0 for IP4 boot failed.

I have checked my DHCP server and there is no DHCP request received and the message that appears on the laptop is too soon to allow a DHCP request so it seems it can’t detect the WiFi card as the error stated.

Does anyone know if this is supported by the WiFi card or have any suggestions?

Thanks

You can’t pxe over wifi.

Thanks for the quick answer.

I did some checking previous to posting and saw some laptops could do this but I think you are right and not possible with this NIC.

iPXE supports boot over Wi-Fi but in bios it mentions PXE legacy so guess out i’m out of luck. Just ordered a Ethernet port to get around the problem.

Thanks again.
