with news of the news 120hz monitor, is it possible that framework would consider some kits to repurpose existing screens as a portable/secondary monitor?
Would be nice to have something in place similar to those coolermaster kits that repurpose mainboards but for monitors.
Yep I was just thinking about that, would be awesome!
There’s the whole topic about using Framework display as an external monitor:
Hi,
Not sure this is the right section, but I was wondering if Framework could not develop a case for its old monitor, alike the one they offer for the old mainboard, so we could keep using them after replacing them on our laptop.
Best regards,
Pierre
Breathing life back into this idle thread now that the Framework 13 Pro was announced with the touch screen. The HDMI controller board thread linked above is a good source and included a link to a Printables 3D printable solution:
This works but I sure would LOVE to see an official Framework solution. It would be a neat way for road warriors or more desk fans to have a 2nd monitor for their laptop. In my case, I would probably use it as a monitor for troubleshooting my home lab. Or at some point I might mount it to a wall for a Home Assistant panel or something. Or maybe I would try to mount it above my main monitor somehow. Not sure but having an official product would help a lot of folks and help with Framework’s vision of reuse.
