Ryzen 7840HS RAM Timings

As the Ryzen 7 7040HS does not have AMD EXPO as a feature (unlike the Ryzen 9 7940HS), is there any guarantee that the included RAM kit will actually hit the advertised 5600 MHZ? I figured this timing profile was a preset OC in some fashion, but knowing it is far beyond DDR5 JEDEC profile, how this is done with the Ryzen 7 CPU.

The simplistic way I understand it is this. The 7840 (U and HS) don’t support memory overclocking (at least, not in the Framework machines. Can’t say about others), but they do support a max memory speed of 5600. If the memory stick/kit you buy runs at a base speed of 5600, without EXPO, it will work. The memory in my FW 16 with 7840HS runs at 5600. But if you get memory that, for instance, has a base speed of 4200 or 4800, and only supports higher via EXPO or manual overclocking, then they will run at the base speed of 4200 or 4800, with no way to increase it.

Framework doesn’t support EXPO/XMP on any device. Even if the CPU would allow it, there’s no way to enable it.

Well es previously mentioned, you need the Ram Kit with their Timings as a Base Kit. I installed a Kingston Fury 2x32GB Kit with 5600cl40 and it worked fine out of the Box, even with the cl40 Timings

I used the same kit. Plug and play, shows up as running at 5600.
