TBH i don’t think it will happen this year and wholeheartedly wish it.
No need to crunch work through holidays.
I am fine waiting 1-2 weeks longer if they are all relaxed and could spend some nice quality vacation time.
I also don’t think that any company would launch something (relatively to their size) this big while many employees are not working.

I suspect there will be a general update email sent out to tell everyone the state of the issues that needed resolving before they send out the one about charging, if they don’t come out at the same time.
Also seeing as an initial test production batch is being sent out to press for reviews we’ll see some noise from those possibly before they start shipping.

Fr the fourth update made it sound like only minor stuff are left and production should start when the factory reopens but I just hope nothing new comes up between now and then (although I would rather it comes up now rather than later after I get the laptop).

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, TL;DR:
They will have all final parts for for assembly in mass production in their factory on January 22nd and expect to send the “your batch is being prepared”-mails for Batch 1 before the end of January
I guess that should mean shipping of the first unit in the first week of February, and most people seem to speculate that they will ship one batch per week, like with the later FWL13-AMD batches

With Chinese New Year running from February 10th to February 25th, 2024, I wouldn’t expect many shipments in that time period as the factory, warehouse and suppliers all likely are going to be lacking personnel then. I still hope to get my batch 8 prior to March 25th, as then my credit card will expire and I’ll have to get a new one and change billing information

Same here, although I’m batch 11. I would love to get my FW before the end of march, although I know the batch might get pushed back a little if there are any more delays.

We’re happy to share that we’ve started mass production manufacturing this week, with the first units leaving the factory before the end of January. These will go directly to our fulfillment warehouse in Taiwan and then out to Batch 1 customers.

I’ll be surprised if they get to batch 3 before mid-March. I’m in batch 5 and at this point if I get mine before end of Q2 I’ll be, uh…“happy” (said with extreme sarcasm).
Batch 8 before 25 March? Yeah, um…I wouldn’t count on that. I could be wrong (and indeed, I hope I am), but…you might want to just go ahead and plan on changing your billing info.
As support will be flooded with random stuff by next week, when the first people get their FW16 and have their first issues, @Ekkehard_F should do that asap.
I’m batch 12, I’ll be happy if I get it by the end of Q2. Anything earlier is a massive bonus.

Ooh err, I’m Batch 12 as well, and would hope for delivery during late May, early June, to fit around times I won’t be around for delivery …

I’m 12 as well. If I get it by May I’ll be very happy, June I’ll be OK with. July will start getting me annoyed, although understandable. Especially if things crop up with the first couple of batches.

Well in one of the updates they mention they currently expect to have all preorders fulfilled by end of Q2 which is the end of June, and we’re up to batch what, 16?, so I think you 12’ers should definitely have yours by the end of June, maybe even before end of May.
Would love to get my Batch 5 before mid march in time for my birthday.
It’d be an awesome gift for sure!
