Terrible high-pitched noise when plugged in, along with fan and WiFi issues on Framework Laptop 16

Hi,

I received my Framework Laptop 16, and a few days later, I noticed an abnormal overheating issue with the motherboard for no apparent reason. After exchanging nearly a hundred messages with support, they sent me a new motherboard to replace the old one, which resolved the overheating issue.

However, since this replacement, a strange and truly horrible high-pitched noise has appeared on my laptop when I launch certain applications or games, an issue I had never encountered before. This noise mostly occurs when the laptop is plugged into power, and it’s extremely distracting and unpleasant.

In addition, there is another issue: the laptop’s fans are particularly noisy, even when there is no significant load. I raised this problem with support, but once again, no solution was found.

I have also experienced intermittent issues with the WiFi card, which disconnects occasionally without explanation. While I would like to resolve this problem, it is secondary compared to the high-pitched noise and noisy fans, which are much more disruptive on a daily basis.

After multiple attempts to resolve these issues with support, no solution was found. They eventually suggested sending the laptop to the repair center.

Unfortunately, after almost two months of waiting, I was informed that the laptop would be returned to me without any repairs done. According to the repair center, the high-pitched noise is “normal,” and no issues were found regarding the WiFi card or the fans.

I’m feeling quite discouraged… Honestly, I didn’t expect to face so many problems with a Framework Laptop 16. While the support team is very responsive, I’m a bit disappointed with the quality of the device.

I’m now reaching out to the community, hoping that someone has a solution to eliminate this horrible high-pitched noise from the motherboard and reduce the fan noise.

Thank you in advance for your help

Did you ever find a solution?
Mine also does this but only when powered with the included power adapter. If I power it with a CalDigit TS4 dock, it does not make the “coil whine” noise.

Also, changing the charging port side changes where the noise comes from.

Just wondering if there was ever a resolution for this, I also am now talking with support on what sounds like the same issue. I am considering requesting a return before I hit the 30 day window, especially if this is considered normal. Mine works perfectly on battery but on power I get a terrible whine and ridiculous fans, even when playing rather light games, and changing power profile doesn’t seem to help.
